This refers to Open Top (OT) containers, suitable for transporting out of gauge (height-wise) elements. A tarpaulin cover that can be lashed up is supplied with these containers, however, it cannot be used when container height is exceeded too much. Hard top open top containers are becoming very scarce, few carriers carry this equipment type now.
